Break Out Session Notes and Leaders

Starting an online program is a daunting task. While there is plenty of information available, knowing how to navigate all of the information and zero in on the issues that are most relevant to starting a program can be a significant challenge.

Over the past year, iNACOL has developed a web site that is intended to be a significant resource for program administrators – the people that are either investigating the possibility of creating an online program or have already been assigned this task, as well as policy makers – state legislators, staff members at the state department of education, and district administrators who wish to establish a positive policy environment for online learning. This year’s preconference is going to be organized around this new web site and led by the experienced online learning practitioners who were responsible for the site’s creation.

The How to Start an Online Program preconference session is an extended preconference session starting at 10:00 AM and ending at 5:00 PM and includes a working lunch. The session will begin with an introduction and general overview, but the majority of the day will be spent in small-group (maximum of 12 people) break-out sessions so that participants can actively engage in conversation with the experts on topics such as funding and budgets, staffing, policies, administrative systems, curriculum, teachers, students, and quality. Registration for this session is limited to 60 people.
